I have photographed portraits, weddings and events in the uk and overseas for over 14 years. I am a people person and renowned for making people feel very at ease. My images are natural, timeless and capture the energy and emotion of the person or people, and the event itself.
I would say I am a portrait photographer, but completely opposed to "posed" subjects, preferring to concentrate on intimate images which describe a situation naturally, gently, by inference, implication, hint...so that people looking at my images have to work a little to see what is going on, and then can see that the image is all about the occasion.
I lived and worked in Amsterdam for four years up to 2020 when I returned to Scotland. My four years in NL were hugely influential for my photography, and as well as photographing people, I was lucky to work alongside the incredibly talented stylist Anya Van de Wetering and create five beautiful books- "Wild Plukken" (on food foraging), "Proef de zee" (cooking with seaweed), "Plants als medicijn" (plants for medicine), "Pluk an bewaar" (pick and keep) and "Wildoogst" (a book on mushrooms, nuts and berries). This was a new venture and one I enjoyed hugely.
